Tolerate is a work in three parts: a two-channel video installation, 12:30 min, subtitled in English, an anthology, 96 pages, in Swedish (to be released in 2012), and a web-application (http://tolerera.se). It was commissioned for this particular show.

I've invited the psychoanalyst Tomas Böhm and the psychologists Liria Ortiz and Fred Saboonchi to participate in the video and the anthology, wherein they explain their views on tolerance and intolerance, and present psychological tools or methods that can be used by those who wish to become more tolerant, or who are in need of arguments or inspiration in their work against intolerance. It should be noted that they don't participate in the web-application.

Art and politics - two reports and one blog

In 2010 I was invited to participate in a couple of seminars, talks and meetings, which examined the role of the artist in a political context. Reports from two of these were recently published and are available online.

The Folke Bernadotte Academy arranged three very interesting seminars in cooperation with Vox Pacis and Sensus in 2010, which examined how art and culture could contribute to conflict resolution processes. It included culture producers, academics and professionals with experience from diplomacy and conflict resolution. I participated in two sessions and held a short introduction to my project The Polynational War Memorial on the third occassion. A report from the seminars have been published in a brochure that can be downloaded here. (in Swedish)

The store and gallery for contemporary jewelry in Stockholm - Platina - recently published a summary from the talks held in connection with the exhibition I care a lot. This jury selected exhibition was an attempt to examine the connection between politics and contemporary jewelry with focus on the situation in the Middle East and a series of seminars were held during the exhibition. Read the summary at the klimt02 community blog. (in English)

I've also started up a new blog: #konstpol., which will focus on issues revolving around art and politics from a Swedish perspective. (in Swedish)

The Utopian World Championship at the Knot

THE KNOT is a mobile platform for artistic presentation and production, traveling to Berlin, Warsaw and Bucharest in 2010. In each of the three cities, it stops for a few weeks, inhabiting different areas of public space, and offering itself as an open space of encounter, exchange and experimentation.

The Utopian World Championship will participate in the Knot when it stops in Ursynów, Warsaw, June 22-July 4, where Jon Brunberg will present the project in several ways. There will be daily, public, readings from the participating essays and seminars with the Knot's inhabitants. In a concluding, public event the third Utopian World Championship will be officially announced, and the website open for registration of participants. The two hitherto awarded essays in the revised edition of 2009 will be available. The championship aims to promote the idea about the good society (eu-topos) at all levels of society, and the edition is an important part of that work. A part of it is earmarked for Heads of State all over the world, including the Acting President of Poland, to whom copies will be delivered during the week.
